Alstom, a global frontrunner in sustainable mobility solutions, has revealed that its Alstom Foundation is contributing funds to the American Red Cross to aid hurricane resilience and recovery initiatives, helping communities better prepare for future storms. The donations will focus on areas affected by hurricanes Helene and Milton, where Alstom employees and customers are based.
With operations throughout the Southeastern US, Alstom’s presence includes key projects such as central Florida’s SunRail, as well as airports in Tampa, Orlando, and Atlanta.
“As climate change continues to contribute to extreme and punishing weather events, it is crucial that communities have the tools they need to recover and build greater resiliency,” Dani Simons, Vice President of Public Affairs, Alstom Americas. “We are grateful to the Alstom Foundation for their support of the American Red Cross which will help communities in Florida and Georgia live and work, continue disaster recovery efforts after the double-whammy of Hurricanes Helene and Milton and prepare for future extreme weather events.”
Established in 2007, the Alstom Foundation funds and supports initiatives put forward by Alstom employees, working in partnership with local NGOs and non-profits. The Foundation’s mission is to enhance the quality of life for communities located near Alstom’s global sites. Its projects focus on four key areas: improving mobility access, environmental conservation, providing energy and water access, and fostering socioeconomic development.
