Virgin Australia and Air New Zealand have officially launched a long-anticipated codeshare partnership, enhancing travel options and providing a more seamless experience for passengers traveling across the Tasman Sea.
Starting December 9, 2024, Virgin Australia customers can book flights operated by Air New Zealand to Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch, all under a Virgin Australia flight number.
These flights will complement Virgin Australia’s existing services to Queenstown.
The new agreement expands the travel options for passengers, with nearly 300 weekly services between Australia and New Zealand available.
Velocity Frequent Flyer members will enjoy a range of benefits, including the opportunity to earn Velocity Points and Status Credits, lounge access for Gold and Platinum members, priority check-in, boarding, and additional checked baggage allowances.
Virgin Australia Business Flyers will also benefit from exclusive discounts and perks.
Alistair Hartley, Virgin Australia’s Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer, emphasized that the codeshare agreement is about more than just flights; it’s about creating a seamless travel experience that offers customers more opportunities to explore and connect.
