The 14th Nepal Festival kicked off today in Tokyo, Japan, under the theme “Celebrating Nepalese Identity in Japan and Promoting Nepal’s Tourism Through the 14th Nepal Festival.”
This annual event is organized collaboratively by the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) Japan, the Embassy of Nepal in Tokyo, and the Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities Japan.
Taking place over two days at Nakano Shikinomori Park, the festival seeks to showcase Nepal’s rich art and culture to a global audience, while fostering a sense of community and unity among Nepalis living abroad.
This year, the 14th Nepal Festival is dedicated to raising funds for the construction of a multicultural center known as Nepali House, which will reflect the identity of Nepal and its people in Japan. The event will feature fundraising activities, food stalls, volunteer teams, and a display of diverse ethnic costumes, art, culture, and Nepali talent, according to NRNA Japan President and Festival Main Organizing Committee Coordinator, Nabin Niure.
With 40 stalls set up for the festival, NRNA Japan Spokesperson Khagaraj Gautam shared that the event will also include screenings of documentaries and photo exhibitions highlighting Nepali art, culture, social customs, and tourist destinations.
Since 2012, NRNA Japan has been organizing this cultural celebration in Japan.
