Starting January 1, 2025, Kuoni Tumlare, a destination management firm, along with the Deutschlandmuseum Berlin, will join the German National Tourist Board (GNTB). Subsequently, Käthe Wohlfahrt KG, renowned for its traditional German Christmas decorations and gifts, will also become a member on February 1.

The GNTB will then encompass a total of 63 members. This includes tourism marketing organizations from all 16 federal states, 32 companies, and 15 other entities such as corporations, associations, and marketing groups. Furthermore, the GNTB is bolstered by the support of 16 sponsors that aid its global sales and marketing efforts.

The inclusion of these new members was unanimously endorsed by the GNTB’s Board of Directors at their 106th meeting on November 21.

Petra Hedorfer, CEO of the GNTB, explains: ‘Through GNTB membership, we offer medium-sized companies in the German tourism industry a professional platform for marketing their products in key source markets worldwide. At the same time, our members represent the high performance standard of the tourism offering in Germany. Together, we support the positioning of Germany as a quality travel destination in international competition.’

Monika Rieker, General Manager Germany and Austria at Kuoni Tumlare: ‘We are delighted to be working even more closely with the German National Tourist Board in the future. We are united by the goal of positioning Germany as a travel destination with its many facets for our customers and inspiring them with customised travel experiences. The potential is huge and with the GNTB’s worldwide network and our global presence, we are creating an ideal starting point for increasing travel to Germany.’

Robert Rückel, Managing Director of the Deutschlandmuseum: ‘The multi-award-winning, immersive Deutschlandmuseum in Berlin is the first port of call for anyone who wants to learn the basics of German history and have fun at the same time. Together with the German National Tourist Board, we want to bring international guests closer to our history.’

Takuma Wohlfahrt, Director of Marketing and Communications at Käthe Wohlfahrt, continues: ‘We have been continuously represented at GNTB tourism events since 1981. As a member of the GNTB, we are all the more delighted to invite people from all over the world to experience the uniqueness of German Christmas, with all its traditional manifestations, during a personal visit to Germany.’

Background Information: Kuoni Tumlare boasts a network of over 1,500 tourism professionals across 33 countries, coordinating a wide array of services including accommodations, transportation, guiding, and catering. As a member of JTB Europe Group and the Federal Association of German Incoming Companies, they specialize in offering comprehensive travel solutions ranging from round trips and educational tours to MICE services, leveraging over a century of expertise in destination management.

The Deutschlandmuseum Berlin, inaugurated in June 2023, provides an engaging introduction to Germany’s historical narrative through immersive and interactive exhibits. It has the distinction of being the first museum in Germany to receive the THEA Award for ‘World’s Best Themed Museum’.

Käthe Wohlfahrt, a purveyor of authentic German Christmas decor, operates its flagship store in Rothenburg ob der Tauber’s historic old town and runs the well-attended Christmas Museum there. The brand has additional locations in key German cities and several European countries, and is a fixture at traditional Christmas markets, where it showcases Erzgebirge folk art and handcrafted festive items.
