The staff of the Chisholm Trail Heritage Center will be hosting the fourth edition of their annual Reining in the Arts event on April 6, running from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at CTHC.
“What we love about Reining in the Arts is the vast and diverse talent from performers and artists right here in and around Duncan,” said Leah Mulkey, CTHC executive director.
Reining in the Arts is an event that shines a spotlight on various art forms, simultaneously championing local artists. The festivities include outdoor performances alongside an indoor art stroll. It’s a welcoming event for families and pets, offering free admission to the museum throughout the day.

Restraining the Arts will encompass instrumental showcases, bands, solo acts, cowboy poetry, historical reenactments, dancers, and beyond.
RITA’s artistic promenade will showcase leather craftsmanship, paintings, unique jewelry, sketches, glass art, macramé, and beyond.
Art promenade exhibitors’ creations will be up for sale, featuring artisanal jewelry, woodworking, paintings, intricate pen and ink sketches, photography, sculptures, and more.
“We hope the community will be excited about the art and performances we will have,” Mulkey said. “We encourage everyone to join us and support these wonderful artists.”
The Money’s on the Move food truck will be present at the event, offering their array of delectable products for sale.
During the event, LaQuincey Reed, a skilled sculptor, will be leading sculpting classes. Further details regarding these classes will be disclosed shortly.
“LaQuincey is a phenomenal artist, and we are so excited for him to share his sculpting knowledge and skills with our guests,” Mulkey said.
Throughout the day, Dave Young, a skilled local kite artisan, will engage in kite fighting activities. Visitors are welcome to interact with him, explore his kite creations, and gain insights into kite flying techniques.
“Reining in the Arts” promises a full day brimming with diverse entertainment and artistic endeavors.
“Our lineup has a little something for everyone, which is why this is a great opportunity for our community to join together and immerse themselves in several art forms,” Mulkey said. “We are honored to host our artists, performers, vendors, and guests.”
