Voters overwhelmingly want to stop illegal aliens from voting in American elections, and nearly two-thirds back legislation that would require proof of citizenship to vote.

According to the latest Rasmussen Reports survey, 74% of likely U.S. voters say preventing illegal immigrants from voting in U.S. elections is important—including 51% who call it “very important.” Only 22% say stopping illegal immigrants from voting is not important. All groups of voters say it is important to prevent illegals from voting, though liberals are the least concerned.

A similar pattern is seen when looking at whether a law that requires proof of citizenship. In that case, liberals are the only group of likely voters who oppose such a law, by 47% to 36%.
