Through his Crime Prevention Research Center, Mr. Lott and his in-depth analysis prove that the government and the media work together. This explains why the illegal use of firearms receives blanket media coverage but defensive gun use is ignored. Mr. Lott’s organization even gathers information by the month of crimes stopped or lives saved by legal gun owners acting in self-defense or defense of others. The reports invariably come from local news outlets but are largely unreported by regional and national outlets.
CNN was the only “mainstream media” network to report on the two Marines’ roles in stopping the attacks and apprehending the suspect. NBC, NPR, The New York Times, The Washington Post and others ignored their role. Anyone wanting early or more thorough coverage of their heroism had to tune into Fox, the New York Post or local Michigan television. . . .
Targeted removals of foreign prison gang members disrupt criminal networks that fuel violence. That’s a point echoed by John Lott Jr., president of the Crime Prevention Research Center, who notes that deporting criminal aliens reduces opportunities for violent crime. While correlation does not prove causation, the temporal alignment of intensified ICE operations and fewer homicides suggests a credible cause-effect scenario. . . .
While we are on the topic of Mass Shootings, I think it is important to share this statistic to show how little regulations on guns laws matter little the cases of active mass shooters.
Dr. John Lott, president of the Crime Prevention Research Center (CPRC), published an Op-Edin the Wall Street Journal titled, “The Media Say Crime Is Going Down. Don’t Believe It: The decline in reported crimes is a function of less reporting, not less crime.”
Not only are news outlets reporting on the fake drop in crime, but they compound the hoax by proactively reporting that “Americans mistakenly believe violent crime is rising” (don’t believe your lying eyes). Talk about gaslighting. . . .
After more than a century of research and analysis, it has become quite clear that immigrants are far less prone to criminal conduct than the native-born population. And yet researcher John R. Lott of the Crime Prevention Research Center has recently claimed to have found evidence that exactly the opposite is true.
Lott’s working paper focuses on one specific claim: that undocumented immigrants in Arizona comprise a disproportionately large share of the state’s prison population, including prisoners convicted of serious crimes like murder and rape.
Aside from the fact that this study contradicts nearly every other piece of serious research on the relationship between immigration and crime (or lack thereof), the author of the study likely added up the wrong numbers in reaching his conclusion.
Another important factor that should be considered in analyzing Lott’s study is that the share of immigrants, documented or otherwise, who make up the prison population is not the same as the share who make up the general population. . . .
Expect enemies of our Second Amendment rights to try to exploit this tragic event — which, as scholar John Lott points out, none of their proposed policies could have prevented . . .

the Crime Prevention Research Center (CPRC) found “Massive errors in FBI’s Active Shooting Reports regarding cases where civilians stop attacks: Instead of 4.4%, the correct number is at least 34.4%. In 2021, it was at least 49.1%. Excluding gun-free zones, it averaged over 50%.” The CPRC reports scores of cases where an armed citizen stopped mass public shootings and over 180 random shootings in general. Large language models that engage in machine learning, which we call artificial intelligence but actually isn’t, can be a useful tool for many things. I’ve used to for a lot of things in my personal life.
I won’t use it professionally, in part because there is such an anti-gun bias among most of the chatbots.
They’re fun to interact with, to bounce questions off of when researching something, and the like, but they’re not really thinking machines. And, as I said, there’s an anti-gun bias, which John Lott talks about at Real Clear Investigations. . . .
As of 2024, more than 21.5 million Americans held concealed carry permits, according to data compiled by the Crime Prevention Research Center (CPRC). The center also found that permit holders are statistically less likely to commit firearm violations than the general public. For example, in Texas and Florida, two states that track such data, concealed-carry permit holders were convicted of gun-related crimes at rates significantly lower than even law enforcement officers. . . .
