EaseMyTrip’s Remarkable Growth in FY25: Expanding Reach and Impacting the Travel Industry
EaseMyTrip has reported significant progress during the fiscal year 2024-25 (FY25), showcasing exceptional growth both in its domestic and international operations. The company’s performance has not only led to impressive financial results but also demonstrated its ability to scale effectively across various markets. This expansion, coupled with key leadership shifts and strategic investments, positions EaseMyTrip for sustained growth in the coming years, making it a formidable force in the travel industry.
Financial Success Across the Board
In Q4 FY25, EaseMyTrip achieved a Gross Booking Revenue (GBR) of Rs 2,192.7 crore, marking an impressive rise compared to previous periods. The company’s revenue from operations also increased to Rs 139.5 crore in this quarter. For the entire fiscal year ending March 31, 2025, the company posted a total GBR of Rs 8,691.6 crore, accompanied by revenue from operations of Rs 587.3 crore. The EBITDA for Q4 was Rs 17.3 crore, with a solid margin of 12.1%. Over the full year, the company achieved EBITDA of Rs 161.2 crore, reflecting an impressive margin of 26.7%. Furthermore, Total Comprehensive Income for Q4 stood at Rs 18.5 crore, while for the full fiscal year, it reached Rs 117.1 crore.
These strong financial results demonstrate EaseMyTrip’s resilience and growth, highlighting its success in effectively tapping into both existing and new markets.
Significant Growth Across Core Segments
A major factor in EaseMyTrip’s stellar performance during FY25 was the exceptional growth in its core business segments. The Hotels and Holidays division was a standout performer, with year-on-year growth of 189% in Q4. Hotel night bookings surged to 2.8 lakh, reflecting a substantial increase of 101.3% compared to the same period in the previous year. For the entire fiscal year, bookings rose by 81%, reaching 9.3 lakh compared to 5.2 lakh in FY24.
Additionally, the Trains, Buses, and Other services segment saw steady growth. Bookings in this category increased by 32% YoY in Q4, rising from 2.7 lakh to 3.6 lakh bookings. Over the full year, the segment’s bookings grew by 26%, reaching 13.03 lakh, up from 10.4 lakh in FY24. This growth is reflective of the company’s broadening appeal to a diverse range of travelers.
Leadership Shifts and Future Strategy
A pivotal moment in the company’s leadership structure came with the appointment of Rikant Pittie as the CEO, effective from January 1, 2025. As one of EaseMyTrip’s co-founders, Pittie also assumed the role of Chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) for the Delhi State in 2025-26, marking a significant achievement in his career. With Pittie at the helm, EaseMyTrip is expected to further its long-term growth strategy and continue expanding into both new and established markets.
Surging International Growth
One of the most exciting developments in FY25 was EaseMyTrip’s outstanding performance in Dubai, a central part of its international expansion. The company’s operations in the city recorded a Gross Booking Revenue (GBR) of Rs 231.7 crore in Q4, reflecting an incredible 266.4% increase from the previous year’s Rs 63.2 crore. Over the course of the entire fiscal year, the company’s Dubai operations achieved a total GBR of Rs 701.4 crore, compared to Rs 205 crore in FY24, a growth rate of 242.2% YoY. This impressive expansion underscores EaseMyTrip’s ability to capture demand and grow its presence in global markets.
In line with its ambitious global vision, EaseMyTrip made notable strides by establishing wholly owned subsidiaries in Brazil and Saudi Arabia, known as Easy Trip Planners Do Brasil Ltda. and Easy Trip Planners Limited. These expansions are particularly strategic, as both Brazil and Saudi Arabia are experiencing rapid growth in their travel sectors. Brazil’s travel market is expected to reach a USD 22.3 billion valuation by 2028, while Saudi Arabia’s tourism is projected to surpass USD 110.1 billion by 2033. EaseMyTrip’s early presence in these regions ensures it is positioned to capitalize on the growing demand and solidify its position in these emerging markets.
Additionally, the company has broadened its footprint in other international markets, including the United States and the Middle East. This includes investments in two Dubai-based companies, Ease My Trip Tours L.L.C. and Ease My Trip Holiday Homes L.L.C., further establishing the brand’s presence in global destinations.
Strengthening Domestic Presence
At the same time, EaseMyTrip has continued to strengthen its domestic reach, particularly in smaller cities. In FY25, the company opened its 25th franchise store in Kodialbail, Mangalore, targeting the growing Tier-2 and Tier-3 markets. These stores offer a comprehensive suite of services, such as flight bookings, hotel reservations, bus and rail ticketing, and customized holiday packages. This strategy aims to provide a bridge between the convenience of online services and the accessibility of offline locations, ensuring that travelers in less digitally connected areas can still benefit from a wide range of travel services.
Commitment to Sustainability and Green Transportation
Another noteworthy achievement was EaseMyTrip’s foray into green transportation, where the company won the first intercity electric bus tender in Madhya Pradesh. Awarded by Sagar City Transport Services Limited, this initiative supports the state’s push for more sustainable travel options. The win is also aligned with EaseMyTrip’s broader Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) objectives, positioning the company as a key player in India’s green transport space.
Focus on Spiritual Tourism and Strategic Partnerships
EaseMyTrip also ventured into spiritual tourism with the launch of the Theerth Yatri Sewa Booth in Ayodhya, through its initiative, EasyDarshan. This booth, established in collaboration with the Ayodhya Development Authority, provides crucial travel assistance and supports the development of the growing accommodation infrastructure in the city. Ayodhya has seen over 5 million pilgrims visiting in 2023, and with future development efforts underway, this number is expected to grow. EaseMyTrip is positioning itself to meet this increasing demand for spiritual tourism, which is gaining significant traction due to government-led initiatives.
A Pivotal Year for EaseMyTrip
The fiscal year 2024-25 has undoubtedly been a landmark year for EaseMyTrip. With impressive financial results, expansion into new international markets, and strategic investments in both green transport and spiritual tourism, the company has demonstrated its commitment to growth and diversification. As it moves forward, EaseMyTrip is poised to continue its upward trajectory, maintaining its position as one of the key players in the travel industry while expanding its global footprint. The company’s ability to navigate emerging markets like Brazil and Saudi Arabia, as well as its continued success in Dubai, illustrates the strength of its business model and its capacity to adapt to the ever-evolving travel landscape.
