Thai AirAsia is elevating its Vietnam route map with the addition of a brand-new nonstop flight connecting Bangkok-Don Mueang (DMK) to Hai Phong, a northern Vietnamese gem known for its proximity to the iconic Halong Bay.
Beginning July 16, 2025, travelers can take advantage of four direct flights per week, scheduled every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. To celebrate the launch, Thai AirAsia is offering introductory fares from just 1,790 THB one-way, bookable now through April 6, 2025, for travel between July 16 and October 24, 2025.
Hai Phong: A Coastal Gateway to Halong Bay
Positioned along Vietnam’s northeastern coast, Hai Phong is an emerging travel hotspot offering a refreshing blend of culture, nature, and modernity. With a laid-back coastal charm and a renowned street food culture, the city offers a cool alternative to Vietnam’s busier metropolises. Best of all, it serves as the closest major city to Halong Bay, with the UNESCO-listed natural wonder only a 50-minute drive away.
Hai Phong invites travelers with its colonial-era architecture, tree-lined boulevards, and scenic waterfronts. Whether you’re craving adventure at local amusement parks, sipping traditional Vietnamese coffee in hidden alleys, or setting off on a Halong Bay cruise, this destination delivers something for everyone.
Mr. Santisuk Klongchaiya, CEO of Thai AirAsia, said: “Vietnam is one of AirAsia’s key strategic markets, with travel demand consistently rising among both Thai and international travelers. We’ve been looking for new destinations with strong tourism and economic potential, and Hai Phong—a major northern port city and Vietnam’s third-largest city—stood out as an exciting opportunity.
“Thai AirAsia will be the only airline offering direct flights between Bangkok and Hai Phong, further solidifying our position as the airline with the most direct routes to Vietnam. With this addition, we now connect Bangkok to six vibrant Vietnamese cities. Based on the strong demand for our existing Vietnam routes, which saw an average load factor of 90% in the first two months of 2025, we expect a fantastic response from travelers for this new route as well,” Mr. Santisuk added.
Thai AirAsia Expands Vietnam Network
With the inclusion of Hai Phong, Thai AirAsia strengthens its position as a key carrier between Thailand and Vietnam. The airline now operates direct services from Bangkok to seven Vietnamese cities:
- Hanoi: 21 flights weekly
- Ho Chi Minh City: 21 flights weekly
- Da Nang: 21 flights weekly
- Nha Trang: 7 flights weekly
- Phu Quoc: 7 flights weekly
- Hai Phong: 4 flights weekly (new route)
This latest route underscores Thai AirAsia’s strategy to offer convenient, affordable travel options to Vietnam’s most sought-after destinations.
