MHT aims to foster a robust partnership between Oman’s tourism industry and Southeast Asia, enhancing product variety and tapping into untapped market segments.

The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism (MHT) is planning to establish a representative office in Singapore to promote Oman as a top-tier travel destination across Southeast Asia, particularly targeting markets in Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand.

This initiative seeks to boost Oman’s presence as an essential travel spot, strengthen trade partnerships, and attract more tourists from the region. The appointed representative will be instrumental in executing Oman’s marketing strategy, which includes fostering business relationships, raising awareness about the country’s diverse attractions, and positioning Oman as a prime destination for meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (M.I.C.E).

To this end, MHT has issued a tender for a firm to drive co-marketing collaborations with international trade partners, educate industry stakeholders on Oman’s unique offerings, and enhance its participation in trade events.

MHT envisions a strong partnership between Omani and Southeast Asian tourism industries to diversify product offerings and reach emerging market segments.

A key part of this strategy will be to utilize media relations to portray Oman as a must-visit destination. The firm will engage with journalists, influencers, bloggers, and vloggers to secure coverage across various digital, print, and broadcast channels. Additionally, the firm will work to enhance Oman’s appeal as a MICE destination and address any potential challenges to its tourism reputation in these markets.

The tender highlights the importance of strong collaboration with MHT’s global communications agency to maintain consistent brand messaging and effective marketing campaigns. The selected firm will be required to provide regular reports on its activities and results, ensuring alignment with the ministry’s annual tourism strategy.

Companies interested in participating are encouraged to submit proposals outlining their strategies for business development, trade marketing, and media relations. Proposals will be assessed based on their potential to generate significant outcomes and enhance Oman’s visibility in the highly competitive Southeast Asian tourism sector.

The sale of the tender document concluded on December 8, with the deadline for bid submissions set for December 31.
