Walt Disney Co. will begin selling tickets next week for its highly anticipated first Asia-based cruise ship, the Disney Adventure, set to launch from Singapore in December 2025. This marks a significant step in Disney’s expansion into the Asian cruise market, capitalizing on the region’s growing tourism sector.
Bookings for the Disney Adventure will open to the public on December 10, a full year before its inaugural voyage. However, early reservations are already available to Disney cruise loyalty members.
The new ship is poised to play a key role in Singapore’s post-pandemic recovery, further cementing the city’s status as a leading tourism hub in Southeast Asia. According to recent government data, Singapore saw a 14% increase in visitor arrivals in the third quarter of 2024, reaching 4.4 million tourists, which positions the city to potentially exceed pre-pandemic visitor numbers by year’s end.
At 208,000 gross tons, the Disney Adventure will be Disney’s largest cruise ship, accommodating up to 6,700 passengers. The ship is 44% larger than the Disney Treasure, which is set to debut in the United States later this month. The Disney Adventure will be based in Singapore for at least five years, attracting millions of both local and international travelers. Singapore recently set a record with 2 million cruise passengers in 2023, with more than half of them coming from abroad.
The ship has already generated significant interest, with a 50% increase in traffic to Trip.com’s cruise booking platform following the release of pricing details. The waitlist for the Disney Adventure has also seen a 60% rise in sign-ups in November, compared to the previous month.
As part of its broader strategy to tap into the global travel rebound, Disney plans to double its investments in cruise lines and theme parks over the next decade, signaling its long-term commitment to growing its cruise business. The Disney Adventure is expected to be a cornerstone of this expansion, helping to drive tourism and reinforce Singapore’s appeal as a key destination in Asia.
