Today, a stunning low-altitude flyover wowed families and sports enthusiasts at the Sevens Stadium, marking the 53rd UAE Eid Al Etihad. The event occurred on the closing day of the region’s most enduring sports and entertainment festival, the Emirates Dubai 7s.
Amid the thrilling scenes, the famed Emirates A380 aircraft graced the sky, eliciting cheers and a flurry of photos and videos from spectators in the stands. Departing from Dubai International Airport, the aircraft made a majestic sweep over the stadium at precisely 15:42hrs and again five minutes later, flying at a mere 500 feet above the ground. Pilots for this memorable show included UAE National Captain Khalid Binsultan, Captain Mubarak Al Mheiri, and Captain Abdalla Al Hammadi.
This remarkable flyover highlights Emirates’ dedication to the celebrated Emirates Dubai 7s event, which coincides with the UAE National Day festivities in December. Held at The Sevens Stadium in Dubai, this event continues a 54-year tradition, attracting top international Rugby Sevens teams annually.
The 2024 Emirates Dubai 7s unfolded over the Eid al Etihad weekend, from November 29 to December 1, featuring a stellar roster of international athletes, global music acts, and a variety of hospitality offerings. The event catered to a diverse crowd, including families, sports fans, festival attendees, and music aficionados, providing a myriad of activities over the weekend.
Attendees also enjoyed the opportunity to enhance their Skywards Miles through the Skywards Everyday app at more than 35 food and beverage locations, such as Beats on 2, Frequency on 8, Costa Coffee, and Grab & Go. Furthermore, members had the chance to win a grand prize of 250,000 Skywards Miles by making purchases at participating venues during the event.
