Carnival Corporation has strengthened its partnership with St. Kitts through a series of meaningful events aimed at enhancing sustainable tourism, preserving cultural heritage, and fostering educational opportunities. Over several days, Carnival executives collaborated with government officials, local businesses, students, and community leaders to explore innovative ways to elevate St. Kitts as a premier destination while benefiting its residents.
The visit immersed Carnival executives in the island’s vibrant culture and rich history. Highlights included the Old Road Rum Tour, the dynamic Cultural Extravaganza at Port Zante, and the scenic journey aboard the famous St. Kitts Scenic Railway. These experiences showcased St. Kitts’ unique appeal and emphasized Carnival’s dedication to celebrating local traditions and strengthening ties with the community.
In partnership with the St. Kitts Tourism Authority, Carnival representatives visited the island’s Eco Park, a hub of eco-tourism showcasing its diverse botanical heritage. This visit underscored Carnival’s commitment to environmental sustainability and responsible tourism, aligning with the shared goal of preserving St. Kitts’ natural beauty for future generations.
Key Carnival leaders, including Javonté Anyabwelé, Vice President of Global Strategic Sourcing; Charlene Drakes, Manager of Stakeholder Engagements; and Odette McFarlane, Director of Port & Shore Operations at Carnival UK, met with Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew and the Cabinet. The discussions focused on fostering sustainable growth in the cruise industry and strengthening the strategic partnership between Carnival and St. Kitts.
At Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College, Anyabwelé delivered an inspiring talk to over 70 students, emphasizing the importance of resilience and dedication. Tourism Minister Marsha Henderson joined the session, highlighting the critical role of education in shaping the island’s future leaders. The event reflected Carnival’s commitment to investing in the development of young talent within the region.
Culinary students from the college enjoyed a hands-on learning experience aboard P&O Cruises’ Britannia. Guided by Training Manager Goldha Franks and Executive Chef Paul, the students explored shipboard culinary operations, gained career insights, and concluded the visit with a special lunch. This unique opportunity provided a glimpse into potential career paths within the cruise and hospitality industries.
Local tour operators had the chance to pitch innovative excursion concepts to Carnival executives. These ideas, ranging from luxurious experiences to adventurous outings, aimed to diversify the shore excursions available to Carnival guests and create memorable travel experiences. This collaboration highlighted the potential for new partnerships that benefit both visitors and local businesses.
The visit concluded with the State of the Industry event, where Anyabwelé joined Prime Minister Drew and St. Kitts Tourism Authority CEO Kelly Fontenelle in a forward-looking discussion on travel innovation and connectivity.
