Norwegian Cruise Line has announced that the Norwegian Star will sail in the Caribbean during the winter 2025-26 season. This change follows the cancellation of the ship’s previously scheduled itineraries in South America and Antarctica, which were removed from the calendar earlier this week.
The company highlighted that the new Caribbean deployment offers a blend of cultural exploration and tropical island adventures, with itineraries departing from an undisclosed homeport. Bookings for these revised voyages will open on November 29, 2024.
The Norwegian Star had originally been slated to operate cruises to South America during the 2025-26 winter season, marking its fourth consecutive season in the region. Those plans included voyages departing from Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires, with itineraries ranging from 14 to 17 nights that featured scenic cruising in Antarctica. The ship was also set to conduct trans-Atlantic crossings and summer cruises in Europe during the same period.
In addition to the Norwegian Star, three other vessels—Norwegian Jewel, Norwegian Dawn, and Norwegian Jade—have seen most of their 2025-26 winter deployments cancelled. These ships had been scheduled to sail routes in Africa, the Indian Ocean, the Caribbean, and Central America.
Passengers affected by the cancellations will receive full refunds and a 10 percent discount on future bookings in the form of a Future Cruise Credit (FCC). The FCC can be applied to any of Norwegian Cruise Line’s published sailings through December 31, 2026.
The new Caribbean deployment aims to offer an alternative for guests seeking a mix of vibrant cultural experiences and relaxing tropical getaways during the winter season.
