In Dublin’s vibrant skyline, Anantara The Marker Dublin Hotel presents ‘Poetry and Places’ – an innovative afternoon tea experience blending Ireland’s rich literary heritage with its stunning landscapes.
Crafted by Executive Pastry Chef Sebastian Ritzen and his team, ‘Poetry and Places’ is a poetic journey where each bite tells a tale. This culinary tribute celebrates Ireland’s lush scenery and famous poets. Ten unique cakes and pastries evoke the country’s beauty, accompanied by lines of poetry introducing local lore.
Traveling from the west coast’s rugged cliffs to the east’s verdant hedgerows, guests indulge in treats inspired by Ireland’s literary sites. Seamus Heaney’s ‘Blackberry Picking’ transforms into a Wicklow blackberry wine tart with clove meringue, while Martina Dalton’s ‘Lilac’ becomes a violet macaroon filled with Berriolette curd. Other delights include a chocolate madeleine inspired by ‘The Ballad of Molly Malone’ and a caramelized honey and milk tart paying homage to ‘The Lost Heifer.’
In addition to these poetic pastries, guests enjoy delicate sandwiches, artisan preserves, freshly baked scones, and signature confections like the Battenberg cake, reflecting the hotel’s architecture, and the Guinness Storehouse, a chocolate and Guinness creation honoring Dublin’s iconic brewery.
“When in Dublin, Anantara’s well-traveled guests want to honor the diverse, indigenous flavors that Ireland’s land so generously offers,” said the hotel’s Executive Chef, Gareth Mullins. “To ensure they get the best experience, we’ve collaborated with artisanal producers across the nation, handpicking small-batch delicacies and curating a selection of the finest ingredients that reflect the unique terroir of this beautiful country. Take, for instance, our bavarois of sheep’s milk yogurt from Mayo harmonized with heather honey, oat crumble and a note of smoked Achill Island sea salt. Or our Opera Cake composed of layers of chocolate, rye and dillisk. My personal favorites are the wild Atlantic Sea salt from the west and berries from the wild hedgerows, providing a true sense and taste of Ireland.”
Simultaneously, the tea menu boasts 16 exquisite varieties of Ronnefeldt blends, served in elegant Wedgewood china. Among them are three exclusive blends: Cherry Cheesecake, Irish Chocolate Cream, and Irish Whiskey Cream. Seasonal flavors are also introduced periodically.
‘Poetry and Places’ is available at $69 per person ($106 with Bollinger Rosé Champagne) and is served daily from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Marker Bar & Lounge or on the Terrace, weather permitting.
