
The Salt Lake City Department of Airports (SLCDA) is delighted to announce the successful installation of The River Tunnel by Artist Gordon Huether in the Central Tunnel. Members of the media are cordially invited to an exclusive preview of the tunnel and an opportunity to hear from Mr. Huether himself. Additionally, a representative from the tunnel construction team will be available to address any inquiries regarding the tunnel’s construction process, and media personnel will have the chance to explore the area designated for a future train.
The event will commence on Wednesday, April 3 at 10 a.m. Media personnel are required to arrive no later than 9:30 a.m. to obtain a badge and undergo security screening. Please note that this event will be held in a secure section of the airport, necessitating a badge for entry. Prospective attendees must RSVP with their legal name and date of birth at least 24 hours in advance.
Badge pickup and security escort will take place at the Terminal Badging Office, conveniently situated near Delta baggage carousels 8 and 9 on the second floor of the terminal building.
Speakers at the event will include Bill Wyatt, Executive Director of the Salt Lake City Department of Airports; Julito Ganchero, Area Manager of Concourse B and the Central Tunnel; and of course, Gordon Huether, the esteemed artist behind The River Tunnel installation.
Media parking will be available for the event. In the event that the designated lot is full, attendees are advised to park in the garage and request validation from a member of the airport’s MarCom team.
